How does Invisalign work?

More than 6 million people have have utilized Invisalign to move their teeth into a better position. The clear aligners are custom-made for you, they are virtually invisible and fit snugly over your teeth. Each aligner shifts your teeth slightly, moving them horizontally and vertically and rotating them when needed. They are engineered to use the right amount of force in the right place at the right time.

What is the process?

Step 1. Consultation

Invisalign consultations are included in the price of your examination. You will be able to discuss your needs and goals with one of our dentists and see if you are a candidate for treatment. Every Leaf Dental dentist is a member of the American Academy of Clear Aligners (AACA).

Step 2. Digital Impressions and Photos

Digital Impressions and Photos: the iTero® digital scanning system will be used to create a fast, precise 3D image of your teeth (no traditional impressions needed) and photographs will be taken. Your images are immediately sent to Invisalign® and a treatment plan is created. Our dentist’s expertise enable them to carefully evaluate the proposal and enhance it in order to meet your goals in the most efficient and predictable manner possible.

Step 3. Start Treatment

You return to receive your aligners and begin treatment. As you wear each set, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into place. Each patient varies in duration of treatment, how often the aligners need to be changed, and how often they need to be seen. On average, we see most patients every six weeks.

Step 4. Finish Treatment

When treatment is complete, clear retainers are made in order to maintain the position of your teeth and smile.
